This site will provide links to all CFRs (1 through 50).

You can download in text or PDF format.

The PDF format will look just like the pages in the paper bound book.

The text version can be opened in a word processor and formatted to your liking.

This site has CFRs for 2011 and earlier but is no longer maintained or updated. It will be shut down in 2012.

The XML version can be opened in your browser. This seems faster than the PDF version.

Federal Codes and Public Laws

At this site you can research the federal codes (USCs) but it appears to only be current as of 2003. By looking at public laws you can find the laws recently adopted and it should show the USC section that it was codified to. You just have to work at it a bit.

All California Codes of Regulations

This will site will provide links to all State of California Codes of Regulations.

Since this site will not allow direct links to specific titles (such as Title 13) you will have to follow the links.

First click on "TITLE 13 MOTOR VEHICLES". Be patient it will come up. When the pages loads click the box with the + next to "DIVISION 2 DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL". When that pages comes up click the box with the + next to "CHAPTER 6 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS". When that comes up click the box with the + next to "ARTICLE 3 GENERAL HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REGULATIONS." That is where you will find the sections we will be discussing in this course. The sections from 1160 to 1168 are all you need so you could probably print the ones you like.

California Codes (Statutes)

This will provide access to all of Californias Codes (laws or Statutes)

California Vehicle Code

This will take you to the California Vehicle code. You can find the section you like from there.

Pipeline and HazMat Safety Administration

PHMSA is the federal organization that promulgates the 49 CFR parts 100-180 (and some other parts).

DOT HazMat Information

All kinds of federal hazmat information. Just click on a placard to go to the topic you want.

OSHA The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (Purple Book)

This site has all the the GHS (Purple Book).

OSHA Comparison of GHS to OSHA requirements

This will provide lots of details about how the current OSHA requriements compare to those recommended in the GHS (Purple Book)

UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe)

Details, purpose, and history of the GHS.

CAMEO

CAMEO is "Computer Aided Management of Emergency Operations". Information on what this is, how to use it and the program itself are avaliable on this site. You can also select pertinent maps for you area.

NIOSH Pocket Guide

The NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards (NPG) is intended as a source of general industrial hygiene information on several hundred chemicals/classes for workers, employers, and occupational health professionals. The NPG does not contain an analysis of all pertinent data, rather it presents key information and data in abbreviated or tabular form for chemicals or substance groupings (e.g. cyanides, fluorides, manganese compounds) that are found in the work environment. The information found in the NPG should help users recognize and control occupational chemical hazards.

J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc.

This is a commercial site for J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc., who sell copies of regulations, placards, labels, and everything to do with HazMat. Even some OSHA stuff. They also have a lot of training material (books, videos, on-line, etc). They are not the only source but are a good place to start.
